Project story

Residence Recast sits into its hillside setting with a kitchen designed for both the everyday and the long weekend. The owners entertain extended family regularly, and wanted a room that could hold that activity while remaining connected to the landscape outside.

Natural materials draw the interior closer to its setting, while a concealed vacuum system in the island, laundry appliances in the scullery and an existing laundry chute were all retained within the new plan. The result is a kitchen with an easy generosity: practical details are present, but never take over the room.
