Maden was designed for a couple whose children have left home, but whose family still returns often enough to make entertaining central to the brief. The kitchen needed to work for two people, then open up easily for a crowd around the bar.
A long wish list included a large scullery, multiple sinks, generous refrigeration, two dish drawers, a dishwasher, air conditioning and extensive storage. The challenge was giving all of that a home without filling the room with equipment. The completed kitchen meets the scale of the brief with a warm, sophisticated plan that still feels composed.
