Quartzite Peninsula is a family kitchen designed for the push and pull of real life: two small children, everyday meals, guests and the need for surfaces that can take it. The brief called for a warm, natural room with expressive stone, brass details and a little colour held within a neutral base.

The peninsula gives the family a social centre without losing the practical rhythm of preparation and storage. Durable materials and considered planning support a kitchen that is used constantly, while the natural palette keeps it settled. It is a family room in the fullest sense: made for cooking, conversation and the small chaos of the day.

Judges’ comment

Set against a magnificent landscape, this confident, distinctive kitchen perfectly matches the modern character of the home. The brave selection of the exquisite quartzite with curved stone detailing and mitred edges adds craftsmanship and drama. Subtle brass accents soften the palette, enhancing the seamless, furniture-like design of the cabinetry.
