Project story
Oak & Arc is a kitchen for two that is ready for a fuller house. The new-build brief asked for generous storage, calm modern lines and a visual connection to the cedar and natural materials used throughout the home. Display was deliberately kept to a minimum, allowing the cabinetry to hold the practical work out of sight.
A curved, solid-timber slatted island gives the room its softer edge. Grey stone, copper-toned accents and full-height joinery add depth without crowding the plan. It is a warm, functional kitchen where the architecture and the daily routine have been considered together.
Judges’ comment
This kitchen delivers an impressive result for a modest budget, achieving far more than expected through thoughtful planning and clever detailing. The curved island, warm timber finishes and stone splashback add a sense of refinement and quality, while the calm, practical layout responds beautifully to both the setting and the brief.
