Project story

A Suite Sanctuary does what a good ensuite should: it gives the main bedroom a private world of its own. Set in Cass Bay on Banks Peninsula, the bathroom balances clean function with colour, warmth and a little quiet drama.

Designed by Sarah Harding of Spaces Ink Interior Design Studio, the room works with a fresh, composed palette: white sanitaryware, gunmetal detailing, green feature tile and warm oak-toned joinery. It is not trying to be overly precious. It is trying to feel restful, practical and personal.

Robertson fittings bring consistency through the shower, bath and basinware, with gunmetal used as the key finish. Heirloom heated towel poles continue that tonal language, adding the comfort expected in a true sanctuary space. Laminex is specified through the vanity and mirror joinery, including the oak-look panels and benchtop surface, while Blum hardware keeps drawers soft-closing and neatly resolved. Fit lighting is used within the mirror, giving the room a functional glow rather than a harsh bathroom glare.

The strongest thing about A Suite Sanctuary is its sense of control. The feature colour gives the room life, but the planning keeps it calm. Storage, light, hardware and surfaces are all doing their jobs without calling too much attention to themselves.

It is a bathroom with a generous mood and a practical spine: exactly the combination an ensuite needs.

Judges’ comment

This striking ensuite has been thoughtfully planned and responds beautifully to the brief. The raised bath platform creates a strong focal point, with the green tiled backdrop adding real impact. Wellbalanced materials, excellent symmetry, generous storage and clever detailing combine to form a functional yet compelling bathroom.
